FAQs | Frequently Asked Questions
Why the name Circle F?
Circle F Cattle is a 4th generation family owned and operated cow/cattle operation. Our family also has a goldfish and koi farm called Ozark Fisheries that was started in 1926. The land around our ponds was converted to pasture and cattle were brought in to manage the pasture. Circle F Cattle Company was founded around 1950. The Circle F name was created by taking the O and F of Ozark Fisheries to make our Circle F brand. While Circle F Cattle has been raising calves to sell to the commercial market for over 70 years, in 2025 Circle F Beef was created to sell our amazing beef directly to you. We believe that family farm raised beef is the best way to fill your freezer.
Why does your meat taste so good?
Our family grew up eating locally grown pasture raised beef, we didn’t realize that this quality of beef is not available to everyone and want to change that. The taste is truly unmatched to anything you can get at the grocery store. We work hard to raise quality beef from start to finish. That begins with great genetics in our black angus herd. Our animals are raised on pasture and we finish our beef with a great grain ration that is proven to add great marbling and finish on our beef. Our family eats the beef we raise too and we want our beef to have an unmatched flavor and tenderness in every cut from the juicy steaks right down to our ground beef.
Is buying beef in bulk more expensive?
Good question! Buying beef in bulk is an upfront investment to get great locally grown pasture raised beef. The quality and taste of this beef is much higher than anything you can get from the grocery store.
For example, with a Half Beef Share - $1,700 (total cost)/260 lbs (estimated take home lbs) = $6.50 lb. This is for all your meat including all cuts, so while you can get ground beef cheaper, you have to remember that this includes all your steaks and high-end roasts! You are saving money buying in bulk and getting much higher quality beef to put into your freezer.
We are currently offering quarter, half and whole options, but plan to soon have smaller boxes and bundles available as well.

Is all the meat you sell from your farm?
Yes, all our beef is directly born and raised on our farm. We are adding the direct-to-consumer component to our operation. We are starting with beef shares (quarters, halves, and wholes) with plans to add beef boxes and hopefully subscriptions options in the future. We are harvesting our first steers in the spring of 2025 and will be adding to our feed out program over time.
Where are you located?
Our 4th generation fish and cattle farm has been located in Stoutland, Missouri since 1926. We are nestled square in the Ozarks and our beef is raised on green pastures in the Missouri Ozark hills.
What does pasture raised beef mean?
Our pasture raised cattle are grass-fed and grain finished. We start with great genetics in our black angus herd and breed for high quality meat. Our cattle graze on lush green Missouri pastures and drink fresh Ozark water. In the winter they are fed home-grown baled hay. Steers in our feed out program will be on grass pasture or have access to hay for their entire life on our farm. We grow them on pasture and finish them with a high-quality balanced grain ration to produce great marbling and the outstanding flavor.
Is your beef grass-fed?
Circle F cattle are born and raised on grass pastures at Circle F and have home grown hay provided through the winter months. We finish our cattle on a balanced grain ration for the best possible marbling and taste. While the term “grass-fed” has been trending in the past few years, it comes down to flavor preference. Grass finished beef produces a leaner meat with less marbling, the marbling is what adds more flavor to the beef when it is cooked. We personally like the extra marbling and the juicier taste that grain finished beef provides.
Besides producing delicious beef, raising our cattle on well managed pastures is important to us. We take our grass and pasture management seriously using regenerative practices like rotational grazing and adding diversified native grasses in our pastures for plant diversity.
How is your beef processed?
Circle F Beef has partnered with Three Brothers Meat Company to harvest our animals. Three Brothers is a locally owned USDA inspected facility only 15 miles from our family farm. This means they are a top-quality processing facility meeting the highest level of standards in the US. We could not be more thankful to have this great facility so close! We have our beef dry aged for at least 21 days to add to the tenderness and flavor. The dry aging process involves hanging the beef carcass in a temperature-controlled environment for at least 21 days. This lets the natural enzymes in the beef break down the connective tissues making for a more tender piece of beef. You won’t be able to find this quality of beef in a store. It is a product we are proud of and love bringing our farm to your table.
How much freezer space do I need?
When buying beef in bulk, this is an important question! More freezer space is needed when buying bulk beef. Here is a breakdown of estimated freezer space for our bulk beef shares:
Quarter Beef Share: around 4-5 cubic feet (quarter of a large freezer)
Half Beef Share: 8-10 cubic feet (half of a large freezer)
Whole Beef Share: 15-20 cubic feet (whole large freezer)
